About the ITAM Special Interest Group (ITAM SIG)
The ITAM SIG is a free group for members* to meet and discuss the challenges of IT Asset
The group is led by Piaras MacDonnell, a highly experienced ITAM specialist who is very familiar with the challenges faced by ITAM managers and administrators.
IT Asset Management is a very specialised area of IT with most organisations having only one or two people whose role it is to manage this area. This means for most ITAM specialists there are very few internal resources to share ideas on how to optimise software licensing, hardware management, BYOD issues and ITAM optimisation.
The group is largely made up of itSMF Ireland members but welcomes both developers and those on the operations side of IT service management.
If you would like to join, please sign-up for our newsletter or join the ITAM SIG in the 'My Interest Groups' section of your members profile at the top of the page.
IT Asset Management (ITAM) is a type of business management that is directly tied to an enterprise's IT infrastructure. With ITAM, professionals review an organisation's total business hardware and software inventory and make comprehensive decisions about sourcing, use and all other aspects related to an asset lifecycle.
Software asset management is a wide ranging field covering the purchase and installation of software, optimisation of software configurations, software licence recycling and budgeting for licences. SAM can benefit companies of any size or type. No matter the organisation, managing software licenses efficiently can save you time and money.
